We are off on a year-end vacation into the wilderness starting mid next week, hence this will be our last post for 2008. Here's wishing all of you - "Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year".
In this post, we have put together a collection of Raptors, with whom we were fortunate to have made direct eye contact. All images have been shot with the D300, 300 f2.8 lens with the 2x teleconvertor. We hope you enjoy these intense killer looks.

Thomas, have a super wilderness vacation! I can't wait to see the images you bring back.
These raptor images are, to state it simply, exquisite. My favorite would have to be the Egyptian Vulture. That capture angle makes me think of that bird as a wise old man saying "you better keep moving."
The darker Changeable Hawk Eagle with the golden eyes is truly amazing.
Your photography has inspired me to purchase a new Nikon D90 in the hope of capturing some images myself. If I can get some photos even half as good as yours, I would be a happy man :-)
Thanks for sharing your inspiring photos. Have a super trip and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
they are all beautiful ! however I love the texture oif the feathers of the last one ! it's absolutely a great serie!
Great collection of Bird of Prey!. Really killer shot.

See you next year then.
great shots, all of them. Thanks for sharing.
Whoever would think you could see so much in the eyes of a bird, Thomas! Some of them actually look quite friendly, while others don't. But that vulture takes the cake. A face only it's mother could love!
I forgot to add: ENJOY YOUR HOLIDAY!
You continue to do an incredible job with these closeup bird pictures. You always seem to get so close. That Egyptian Vulture was fascinating as well.
You have dream shots here! But you always do! I love that third one!
Wow! Love them all but that Egyptian Vulture is outstanding!

Have a great holiday and I hope to see more photos sooner than later! Great photos as usual, I love the Egyptian Vulture and the last image the best.
Thomas: What a neat capture of the neat raptors, all great shots. Love your music today. Have a wonderful Christmas.
Wonderful photos...and yes, killer looks! Have a great trip! Can't wait to see what you bring back for us.
stunning pictures
Fantastic! that spells lovely photos for us in the not-too-distant future. Merry Christmas, indeed!
That Egyptian Vulture has to be the wierdest-looking bird I've ever seen. Its wrinkled face makes me think it's as old as one of the mummies (not me, the Egyptian ones of course).
Have a great trip and see you in the new year. Have a wonderful Christmas and hope the new year sees you doing all the things you love best.
superbe!
Of course, any true nature lover has to love these photos. They are so personal and take us into a place of appreciation and respect for the birds and animals of the world. I think their looks can save the world and not kill if people were to truly look into their eyes.
Have a great vacation and I hope you score a lot of cool photos.
These are stunning! Wow! The detail is amazing and they're just beautiful! That Egyptian raptor probably has the most interesting looking face I've ever seen on a bird.
Hello Thomas, thank you for your wishes :-)
