Birds of India #32 - The national bird - Peacock

Indian Peafowl more commonly known as Peacock is the national bird of India. The variety of colors in their plumage never ceases to amaze us. You can see our first post on this beautiful species here. Yet another post showing their vivid and colourful plumage while they are dancing can be viewed here.

These birds look just amazing after rains, particularly when they get into the act of preening their feathers. Here is a selection of images of the Peafowls taken immediately after or during the rains. The camera setup is the D300 with the 300mm f2.8 lens and with the 2x TC in some cases. For the record, all images are of wild Peafowls.

Gorgeous series! Somehow I don't think the bird in the third photo is a fan of the whole rain thing.

Beautiful images as usual. Loved the last one. The portrait shot looks over-sharpened.

This is such a nice color of blue. I used to live in Las Vegas, NV. Wayne Newton (the singer) had a house there. He had those birds and they were always sitting on top of his fence.
