Birds of India #69 : Indian Bushlark

The Indian Bushlark is a species similar to the Jerdon's Bushlark. The song flight of this little beauty during the mating season is an amazing spectacle. You see the bird flutter high above the ground and then parachute all the way to its perch on the ground, singing and holding its wings in an open "V" formation.
We spotted this little bird on one of our early morning safaris into the Bandipur national park. All images are taken with the D300, 300mm f2.8 lens mounted with the 2x TC.

Beautiful bird Thomas, and just like our Skylark, in looks and actions.

That's a symphony in browns. Does it have a good birdsong like its namesake (at least part of it), the lark?
