Birds of Africa #1 - Grey Crowned Cranes

We started our journey of Wild Tanzania with some stunning landscapes that left us breathless. Then we were lucky to have witnessed the memorable Leopard kill and also to have spent a morning with a pride of Lions. And this is just the beginning as Serengeti - the endless plains has so much more to offer.

In this post, we feature the absolutely beautiful Grey Crowned Cranes, a threatened species of East Africa. The Cranes are known for their characteristic crown of golden feathers and synchronous dancing displays, which is such a delight to watch! Yet another unique behavior is that they are one of the few crane species to roost on trees.

Gorgeous birds, gorgeous images. We have similar birds at our local zoo, yet not the same as seeing them in the wild as you are gifted to have~
