Animals of India #52 : The Endangered species of Pack Hunters - Dhole (Wild Dog)

The most successful predator of all wildlife in India is the highly social 'Dhole' - the Indian Wild Dog. Their characteristic behavior of hunting in a pack is the secret behind their successful hunts and their ability to bring down large prey. Quite remarkable is the fact that this predator is known to put up a fight against the Tiger, if cornered.

We are a bit biased towards them as some of our most thrilling wildlife experiences have been with this endangered species of pack hunters. Though fearful of humans, they do get very close to the Jeep during safaris' making wonderful close up subjects.
In fact, our very first post on "Walk the Wilderness" was this cherished experience with these endangered species of pack hunters.Animal pictures - DholeAnimal pictures - DholeAnimal pictures - DholeAnimal pictures - DholeAnimal pictures - Dhole
