Birding in India - Cooling off with a Slaty Blue Flycatcher

In one of our earlier posts on Corbett, we had talked about Camp Forktail Creek, a minimal impact resort tucked away in the periphery of the Corbett Wildlife Sanctuary. The camp is an excellent place to stay and observe birds right from the comfort of your verandah.

We were having breakfast at the 'Thatch' when a Slaty Blue Flycatcher flew in and settled at the waterhole close to it and decided to have a quick dip. I grabbed my camera, using the wall for support and quickly managed to capture the entire bathing sequence. This handsome fellow was not very happy with me intruding his privacy, which is seen from the expressions he gave me!

Delightful portfolio! Talking of flycatchers, a dark-sided flycatcher was sighted at Chennai by Mr Ramanan, a first known sighting in the city!
